On June 26th at approximately 0937 hours, the Burlington Police Department was notified that a police motorcycle was struck and knocked over in the Uniformed Services Bureau parking lot. Some information about the suspect vehicle was provided at this time, leading police to search various locations of the city. It was also indicated that the operator of the vehicle was female, and that the direction of travel was north on North Avenue. The operator of the vehicle failed to stop at the time of the incident.
Later in the morning, the operator of the suspect vehicle was identified as Sarah Smith of Burlington. Smith was subsequently processed for DUI, and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, prior to being lodged at the correctional facility. At this time, police are asking for any witnesses to this crime.
