19-yr old male in custody after resident caught him burglarizing garage
On Monday, June 27, 2016, at approximately 5:46 a.m., Greene County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence in the 4400 block of West Republic Road after a female resident observed a suspicious male standing inside the garage. When she confronted him, he fled the location on foot. GCSO Deputies searched the area and contacted a male matching the suspect description nearby.
"The Deputies' quick response along with the observations from the witness helped apprehend this individual," states Sheriff Jim Arnott. Several items were found in the suspect's possession which were positively identified by the homeowner as stolen from the vehicles parked in the garage. "We are currently investigating to determine if there are any additional victims and encourage you to call 9-1-1 to make a report if you believe this individual may have entered your garage, your home or your vehicle."
The 19-year old male from Independence, Missouri was arrested and transported to the Greene County Jail without incident. The investigation is still considered on-going and charges have been submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for further review.
