Anderson Police Investigate Vehicle vs Skateboarder Collision
Anderson Police were dispatched to the intersection of State Highway 273 and South Street at about 9:30 P.M. for a reported traffic collision involving a skateboarder and a single vehicle. It was determined that a local Cottonwood resident was driving northbound on HWY 273 and struck a 14 year old juvenile riding a skateboard eastbound through the crosswalk across the highway within the intersection.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the skateboarder was crossing against the pedestrian “Don’t Walk” signal in violation of section 21456(b) of the California Vehicle Code. The juvenile sustained minor to moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital for treatment.
Alcohol and/or drugs was not a factor in the collision. Neither of the involved party’s names are being released at this time.
