On 06/30/2016 just before 1:00 pm, alleged non-complaint registered sex offender 23 year old David Christopher Gilbert of Avilla was apprehended by Steuben County Sheriff’s detectives in the 7800 block of south Homestead Dr in Hamilton, Indiana. An arrest warrant had been issued for Gilbert charging him with one count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender, a level 6 felony. The warrant follows a Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations that Gilbert failed to register as a sex or violent offender in Steuben County as required by Indiana law. Gilbert was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Steuben County Jail. He remains held in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond.
