4th of July Weekend Festivities Schedule
Below is a list of the activities going on this July 4th Celebration weekend:
June 30-July 4 Carnival at the Whitmore Lake Middle School on Main St
July 2 at 8:00 a.m. - Whitmore Lake 5K/10K, Splash and Dash race. The 10K race will start at the Whitmore Lake Middle School and proceed up Main St. The race will conclude at the Middle School. Intermittent road closures will occur to allow the runners a safe route.
The 5K race/walk will start along with the 10K race and head up Main St onto East Shore Drive and over to the Eagle Gardens Sub. It will conclude at the Middle School
The Splash and Dash will start at the Middle School and proceed up Main St where the runners will enter the water in front of the Harbor Cove apartments. Once the runners complete the swim, they will exit at the same location they entered and proceed back to the Middle School. Intermittent road closure will occur to allow the runners a safe route.
July 2 at Dusk - The Whitmore Lake Fireworks - on Whitmore Lake. Viewing area is in front on the Post Office on Main St on the water side. (No Parking or viewing is allowed in the vacant field due to it being private property). Fireworks start at dusk - Main St and North Main St will close between 8-8:30 p.m. depending on the crowd conditions. Residents on North Main St expecting guest should have their guest arrive before that time. Residents only (with proof of ID) will only be allowed up Main St after the road is closed.
July 3 at Dusk - Rain Date for Fireworks
July 4th - 10:00 - Whitmore Lake Parade - the parade will start on Barker Road, head to Main St. From there the parade will go south on Main St and will end at the Public Safety Building.
Main St from Barker Road to Seven Mile (Public Safety Building) will be completely closed during this event.
The open burning ban is still in effect for Northfield Township. Legal Fireworks are NOT being banned for the weekend. Residents must remember to keep safety as the number 1 priority when lighting off fireworks. Keeping in mind the dry conditions in the area and the potential for fire risk. Also, if lighting off fireworks, please remember that state law states that fireworks lit on your property must come down on your property from the falling debris. You cannot light fireworks on your property and have all the debris fall down in the neighbors property.
