The Palos Heights Police Department wishes everyone a safe and happy 4th of July!
Palos Heights, IL (07/01/16) As the 4th of July holiday weekend approaches, the men and women of the Palos Heights Police Department wish our community a safe and happy weekend celebration.
There are many activities going on in our community, which include but are not limited to the Palos Heights Festival on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 4:00PM – 12:00AM. The fireworks show begins at Lake Katherine at approximately 9:15PM.
The 4th of July parade will be held on Monday, July 4, 2016 at 12:00PM, and will be held on Harlem Ave, starting from the 12600 block and ending in the 11900 block. Harlem Ave will be closed from 10:30AM – 2:00PM so please plan your travels accordingly.
Many other activities are gong on in neighboring communities and with these activities comes increased pedestrian traffic and family celebrations. Please exercise extra caution when traveling and educate your family, especially youngsters, about the extra dangers associated with roadways, as this year is expected to be a record travel year for motorists.
Fireworks are synonymous with the 4th of July holiday, and we cannot express enough how dangerous they can be. Even novelty fireworks such as snakes, sparklers, and party-poppers, which are not regulated by the State of Illinois, can be dangerous and cause serious harm. Leave the fireworks displays to the professionals and have a safe 4th of July!
