Discharge of fireworks within Valdez City limits is restricted
to 10:00pm on July 3rd until 11:59pm on July 4th.
Fireworks not only pose a fire danger, but also have a tendency to cause physical injuries. Children should never be allowed to play with fireworks.
The Chief of Police may revoke permission for fireworks use where the health and safety of a person may be endangered.
Fireworks are prohibited in the Valdez Small Boat Harbor year round.
Please Note: The City’s Fourth of July fireworks show has been moved to the old Sea Otter RV Park. Spectators are welcome to view the show from the Kelsey Dock.
A reminder from Alaska’s Land Managers: Interagency fire officials would also like to remind you to be especially cautious with fire as you celebrate the Fourth of July holiday. Historically, most wildland fires occurring over the holiday weekend have been started by people in a recreational setting. If ignited, wildland fire fuels, such as grass, brush, and trees, can quickly grow into large wildfires which put people, homes, and other resources at risk.
The Alaska Wildland Fire Coordinating Group (which represents Federal, State and Native landowners in Alaska) asks the public to help prevent wildfires from getting started by ensuring campfires are completely extinguished after use, fireworks restrictions followed, and burn permit requirements met.
