Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on Absecon Boulevard (Route 30)

On Saturday July 2, 2016 at approximately 04:17hrs, the Absecon Police Department responded to a single car motor vehicle crash that occurred on Absecon Boulevard (Route 30) just west of the Home Depot. The vehicle, a 1994 Toyota Tercel, was operated by Robert Ryan Jr. of Hawthorn, NJ. The initial investigation revealed the operator lost control of the vehicle as he negotiated the curve in the road. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck two light standards. The impact caused the vehicle to roll several times. The vehicle came to rest on its side in the grass with operator entrapped inside.

The first responding officers freed the operator from the vehicle by cutting his seat belt. The Atlantic City Fire Department assisted with the extrication. The operator was transported by Absecon EMS to AtlantiCare – City Division, for non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic at the scene was restricted to one lane for approximately five hours. The crash is being investigated by Ptl. J. Mazer #851 of the Traffic Safety Unit.
