Armed Robbery at Trader Joes

On Sunday evening at about 9:30 PM, the San Luis Obispo Police Department received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery had just occurred inside the Trader Joe’s grocery store located at 3977 S. Higuera.
An unknown suspect, described as a white male wearing all black with a black mask covering his face, entered the store after it had closed for the night. The suspect entered through the front door which had not yet been locked. After entering the store, the suspect approached an employee behind the customer service desk. The employee was in the process of counting cash drawers when the suspect approached and displayed a handgun. The suspect demanded money and threatened to shoot the employee if the money was not handed over. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money from the employee, the suspect walked out the front of the store.
Another employee was alerted to what had just taken place. The employee went out to the parking lot where the suspect was seen fleeing in what was described as a 7 to 10 year old Japanese made, unknown model, gold sedan with a partial license plate starting with “4A”.
The suspect was described as a white male with a medium build, approximately 5’-11” tall, wearing black shoes, a black puffy type down jacket, a black hood was over his head and a black cloth was covering his face from the eyes down.
There were no injuries as a result of this robbery. It is unknown if this robbery is related to the Lexington Inn robbery last week. At this time there is no information suggesting the two robberies are connected.
