ID Needed for Bicycle Seized From Arrested Subject in Sebastopol

On 7-4-16, at about 7:13 PM, a Sebastopol Police Officer was conducting a security check of illegal transient encampments in the area of the Laguna de Santa Rosa preserve, near the Sebastopol city limits. The Officer contacted several subjects camped in the area, including Jesse David Pearce of Fremont.

A records check showed that Pearce had two warrants for his arrest out of Sonoma County. One of the warrants stemmed from a June 8th Sebastopol Police Department case where Pearce was arrested for possession of a stolen bicycle. Pearce was arrested on his warrants without incident.

At the time of Pearce's arrest, he was in possession of a green Thruster brand "Fixie" (single-speed, fixed gear bicycle) with a yellow front tire and blue rear tire. The bicycle appeared custom and in new condition. A photo of the bicycle is attached.

Upon questioning, Pearce provided no evidence of ownership and attempted to claim the bicycle was not his. The circumstance and investigation so far indicate that the bicycle may be stolen.

Any information regarding the lawful owner of the bicycle should be referred to the Sebastopol Police Department at (707) 829-4400.
