A local resident has gotten phone calls this morning from people trying to claim that they are his grandchildren saying they have been arrested and need money for bail, or have been in an accident and need money. He was aware this was a scam and did not respond.
Residents should be aware that this is a scam and should never provide any financial information to someone calling blindly.
This scam and the IRS "warrant" are two widely used attempts to steal money and should be not be believed not acted upon.
Anyone getting a call should contact their local law enforcement agency.
