Suspicious Package at City Hall
On July 5, 2016, at about 11:40 a.m., Corona Police were alerted of a suspicious package at the Veterans Memorial near City Hall. The suspicious package, described as a newer black duffel bag, was found wedged between the kiosk and building near the south entrance.
As a precautionary measure, the Corona Police requested the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff Department - Hazardous Device Team (HDT) to determine the contents of the package. As a result, city employees were temporarily evacuated from offices located within City Hall while the HDT conducted their investigation and rendered the area safe.
It was later determined that the package did not contain any hazardous materials or devices. City employees were allowed full access to the building at about 3 p.m.
