Sumpter Township emergency siren damaged after being struck by vehicle 
A Sumpter Township emergency siren was struck by a vehicle last night and damaged, rendering it inoperable. The siren, located at 17400 Savage Rd. (just south of Bemis Rd.) covers the northeast corner of the township.
Even though our fourteen sirens are strategically placed throughout the township to overlap each other in terms of audible coverage, those who live/work near the 17400 Savage location will not be able to hear a possible future activation at the normal volume (due to the nearest siren being at Martinsville and Willis Rds.) until the siren is repaired, which could take 1-2 weeks.
Please keep this in mind during any upcoming periods of bad weather.
