On July 3, 2016 at approximately 0841 hours, Burlington Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Hickok St. and North Union St. in Burlington, VT for an attempted robbery. The victim indicated that the suspect threatened her with a large rock while attempting to rob her. The victim fled from the scene and called police. Officers quickly responded to the area and based on the description provided by the victim, located the suspect, Shanti Namjou, several blocks from the original crime scene. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Namjou for an attempted assault and robbery.
The victim retained all of her property and was uninjured during this incident.
Namjou was subsequently lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility on $5,000.00 bail.
