CITY OF FARMINGTON BAN ON OPEN BURNS LIFTED. FIREWORKS REQUIRE A PERMIT
Per the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the fire hazard risk for Southeast Michigan is currently listed as low to moderate. As a result, the Farmington Public Safety Department (FPSD) is lifting the ban on outdoor burns. The FPSD reminds residents that all open burns must be in compliance with Section 14-29 of the City of Farmington Code of Ordinances:

As it relates to fireworks, currently fireworks can only be discharged with a City issued permit. Section 20-117 of the City of Farmington Code of Ordinances specifically prohibits the discharge of fireworks with the following exceptions:
(1) Fireworks may be discharged in strict compliance with any permit issued by the city in accordance with the Act.
(2) Consumer fireworks may be discharged only on the day before, the day of, and the day after, a National holiday.
(3) This subsection (b) shall not apply to low impact fireworks
