Rural Scott County teen faces drug and alcohol charges

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said a rural Scott County teen was arrested over the weekend on drug charges.

Jeffrey Bryant Gage 18 (rural Scott County) has been charged with the class C felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and the unclassified misdemeanor of Possession of Liquor by a Minor.

Walter said deputies and himself were investigating reports of a possible underage party outside of Sikeston over the weekend. During the investigation, Gage, who was reportedly in route to the party, was stopped for a defective vehicle equipment violation. Deputies located alcohol and a white powdery substance inside the vehicle. The powdery substance tested positive to be cocaine.

Walter said it is disappointing to see such a young person go to jail, but he was glad the alcohol and drugs didn’t make it to the party.

Gage was transported to the Scott County Jail where he later posted a $5000.00 bond to appear in court 07/26/2016.
