Local Martinsville Youth Earns Top Camper Award at ISP Camp
Martinsville, IN- Recently, local Martinsville youth Wesley Badger attended the Indiana State Police Respect for Law Camp at Anderson University and was presented with the “Top Camper” award.
This is the third year that Wesley has attended an Indiana State Police camp. His aspirations of becoming a K-9 trooper have been solidified by the events he has experienced at the camps including seeing the different aspects of law enforcement as well as making new friends.
“The camp exposes you to a wide range of law enforcement including a tour of a county correction facility and a presentation from a local judge in the court room,” stated Wesley. “My favorite part of the camp was when the specialty teams, SWAT, EOD and SCUBA came and demonstrated how they operate.”
At the conclusion of the three day camp counselors select a Top Camper who has exhibited leadership skills, a willingness to help others, as well as an overall good attitude and that person is presented with a plaque at the graduation ceremony.
Wesley is entering the eighth grade and will attend the John R. Wooden Academy.
