~ Join us this Sunday along the route or at the Sheriff's Office to welcome the participating bicyclist around 1:15- 1:30 p.m.~

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office welcomes the 60 riders and their support staff of the 12th annual “Cycle across Illinois.” This annual ride recognizes and honors the extraordinary contributions of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. This year’s ride is honoring, among others, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office own Deputy Dwight Maness, EOW: Sept. 14, 2015. Several deputies of the Sheriff's Office have also trained and are participating in the ride.

This four-day bicycle ride begins Thursday, July 14 in Alton, IL, and ends Sunday, July 17 at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, 2200 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock, IL. Come on out and show your support by cheering on the riders as they complete their journey.

On the final day, the riders are scheduled to leave Lombard, IL, at 8:00 a.m. for the last leg of the 339.1-mile trek. If you cannot be there to greet the riders at the Sheriff’s Office, please come out and show your support along the route as they ride through McHenry County.

At 12:11 p.m. Sunday, July 17 the riders will:
- Leave International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 in Lakemoor, going south on Darrell Rd.
- Turn right (West) off Darrell Rd. onto IL-120/Belvidere Rd. and ride 10.7 miles
- Turn left (South) staying on IL-120/Greenwood Rd. for 3.9 miles
- Turn right (North) onto Seminary Ave. for 1.4 miles
- Turn right (East) onto Russel Ct. reaching their final destination, the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, about 1:30 p.m.

Once the riders arrive at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, there will be a short ceremony honoring our Deputy Dwight Maness.
The ride raises funds and awareness for the Illinois Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors. IL C.O.P.S. is an organization dedicated to helping survivors of law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. They represent both the survivors of Illinois officers and the families of officers from across the country who call Illinois home. The 2015 “Cycle across Illinois” raised $92,571 for IL C.O.P.S.

*** This ride is very well planned, but there is a slight chance the arrival time may change due to weather, traffic, etc. We will try our best to update our Facebook and Twitter accounts late Sunday morning, with the expected time of arrival to McHenry County and the Sheriff's Office in Woodstock.
