The Marion Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred at Love's Truck Stop on Friday July 15th at approximately 11:03 AM. Marion police officers responded to a robbery at Loves Truck Stop located at 3308 NC 226 South in Marion. When officers arrived they found Karen Naomi Riddle of Norfolk Virginia lying in the parking lot. Preliminary investigation in the case shows that Riddle was traveling to visit family in Buncombe County ans stopped at Loves to refuel. While refueling Riddle was confronted by a black male in a white over black Ford Ranger single cab pickup. Witnesses at the scene say that the male grabbed Riddle's purse. Riddle was dragged approximately 40 feet, Riddle fell to the ground and the vehicle ran over her leg as he was leaving the parking lot. Riddle was transported to Mission Hospital in Asheville NC. Witnesses at the scene described the suspect as a black male, medium built with short hair or bold.
