Residential Burglary 1700 block of Bank Street 07-17-16
On Sunday, July 17, 2016, at 1030 p.m., officers from the South Pasadena Police Department responded to a residential burglary hot prowl in the 1700 block of Bank Street, in South Pasadena. Officers found the 83 year old resident who was home alone asleep in the upstairs bedroom. The resident was awakened by two males in all dark clothing, shining flashlights in his face, and repeatedly asking him, “Where’s the money?” The resident told them he didn’t have any money. The suspects dragged him out of bed and covered him with the mattress he was sleeping on and told him to count to 200 before moving. The suspects then ransacked the bedroom and left the residence without taking any loss from the resident. The suspects gained entry to the residence by forcing entry to the downstairs kitchen door using a flathead screwdriver. The resident suffered superficial wounds to his arm and forehead. Paramedics responded and treated him at scene. Officers canvassed the neighborhood for possible witness statements, video surveillance evidence or anything noteworthy and did not locate anything to aid in this investigation. Crime scene evidence technicians processed the crime scene and we are awaiting the analysis of blood evidence recovered at the scene. Over twenty minutes or more passed before the resident called the police to report this crime. Family members were called prior to notification to the police department.
