Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes in Grant County Construction Zone

Grant County – Yesterday at approximately 7:21 p.m., officers from the Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on I-69 near the 264 mile marker,  in which a Noblesville, IN man was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and six separate arrest warrants.

The preliminary crash investigation by Trooper Taylor Roth revealed that Jerry Hunt, 51, Noblesville, IN was driving 1999 Dodge van northbound on I-69 near the 264 mile maker. This area of the interstate is a split lane work zone. Hunt was not able to negotiate through the work zone and crashed into a concrete Jersey wall on the eastside of the road.

Hunt was transported by ambulance to Marion General Hospital with a complaint of pain. He was treated and released. Further investigation by Trooper Roth revealed that Hunt was allegedly over the .08 blood alcohol concentration limit which Indiana law considers a driver intoxicated.

Hunt was incarcerated in the Grant County Jail to face charges for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license. During the investigation, Trooper Roth found out that Hunt was wanted on six Indiana arrest warrants. Hunt had two warrants from Marion County for larceny. He also had two warrants from Hamilton County for theft and two more from Whitely County for failure to appear (traffic) and battery.

This crash is still under investigation.

Trooper Roth was assisted by officers from the Grant County Sheriff’s Department.
