Sysco Lopez was arrested in March of 2015 for the shooting death of Luis David Leon in the City of Dos Palos, CA.
Lopez who has been in custody, since his arrest, plead to Assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang.
Investigators believe that on February 15th, 2015 their was an altercation in the area of Leonard Avenue and Palo Alto Street. During that altercation, Investigators learned that shots were fired from Sysco Lopez as well as the victim Leon.
Lopez turned himself into law enforcement on March 05th, 2016 after the service of several search warrants.
"We are happy the case has been brought to an end." "Several lives were hurt because of this violence. All parties involved had a level of responsibility, to include the victim. It is our prayer that others learn that the use of guns to settle disputes often lead to a life of hurt for all involved."
Sysco Lopez was a familiar name to many in the community and is a young father.
The plea agreement comes with a 9 year prison sentence.

There is no winners. We all lost two young men who had an opportunity to be productive members of this community and chose otherwise.
