PROBLEM ORIENTIED POLICING UNIT SEIZES PROHIBITED FIREARMS 
On Tuesday, July 26th 2016, the P.O.P. Unit conducted firearms compliance checks throughout the City of Anderson. The P.O.P. team concentrated efforts on those citizens with known federal Brady Prohibitions, both permanent and temporary. During the operation, ten firearms were located and seized from prohibited persons living within the Anderson Police Departments jurisdiction.
Those who are prohibited from owning and/or possessing firearms include but are not limited to:
• Convicted felons and people under indictment for a felony
• Fugitives from justice
• Unlawful drug users or drug addicts
• Individuals who have been determined to be mentally incompetent
• Persons under domestic violence restraining orders
• Persons convicted of certain misdemeanors including domestic violence crimes
