07/23/16 WTPD arrested Paul Sipos, age 21, of Port Murray, NJ for assault by automobile. On 07/23/16 at approximately 6:39 PM, patrol responded to the area of E. Asbury Anderson Rd. / Rte. 31 S. in Washington Township for the report of an erratic motor vehicle. Calls to 9-1-1 reported a pick-up truck, towing a boat, was repeatedly ramming into a Ford Bronco it was following as it traveled east bound on E. Asbury Anderson Rd. towards Mansfield Township.
A short time later, the pick-up truck was located at a residence on Old Turnpike Rd. in Washington Township (Morris County). The officer’s investigation revealed that Mr. Sipos’ vehicle had been overtaken by the driver of the Ford Bronco on Rte. 31. Mr. Sipos then intentionally struck the Ford Bronco at the Rte. 31 S. and E. Asbury Anderson Rd. intersection, and continued to ram the Ford Bronco while it traveled on E. Asbury Anderson Rd. The repeated striking from Mr. Sipos vehicle caused damage to the vehicle, and neck / back injuries to an occupant of the vehicle. Mr. Sipos was processed, charged with assault by automobile, and issued motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, careless driving, failure to report a motor vehicle accident and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. He was released after posting $3500.00 bail.
