Drunk Driver Injures Himself in a Single Vehicle Crash
Dubois County: A Tuesday evening single vehicle crash resulted in minor injuries to a suspected intoxicated driver.
At 6:00 P.M., Dubois County Communications received a 911 call reporting a single vehicle crash on Cuzco Road in northeast Dubois County. Trooper Kurtis Blunk arrived to find that 52 year old Kevin Sturgeon of Huntingburg had driven his 1995 Oldsmobile off of the east side of the roadway, overcorrected, and drove off the right side of Cuzco Road, striking a guardrail and a tree. Sturgeon sustained a laceration to his head and complained of pain to his hip.
While speaking with Sturgeon, Blunk observed signs that Sturgeon was intoxicated. Results of the chemical test showed that Sturgeon had a blood alcohol content of .17%, over twice the legal limit. Sturgeon was transported to and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center, without incident.
