Vehicle Burglary suspect arrested, matches social media photo taken by concerned citizen the day before.
Date of release: July 28, 2016
On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, WCPD Officers on patrol located a male riding a bicycle in the area of Francisquito and Orange and attempted to stop him for a vehicle code violation. After a brief chase, the suspect yielded and officers took him into custody. The suspect was found in possession of items believed to have been stolen. The follow up investigation revealed the items found were from two different victims of vehicle burglaries. The officers also noted that the suspect matched the description of a photo taken and posted on social media by a concerned citizen the day before. The suspect was arrested and booked at WCPD.
On July 25, 2016, a photo was taken by a concerned citizen of a suspicious subject riding a bicycle loitering in an (unspecified) area of West Covina who was seen the week before breaking into a parked vehicle. The photo was posted on social media advising the local community to be watchful. The photo and information was also forwarded, or rather “tagged” to the West Covina Police Department.
The suspect is identified as Carlos Flores Jr, 22 of La Puente.
Today, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, West Covina Superior Court filed felony counts of Burglary and Grand Theft against the suspect with bail set at $40,000.00.
Here is another great example of the Community and Police working together. Residents being on alert and reporting suspicious activity are key elements in keeping our neighborhoods safe. Remember, “See Something, Say Something.”
