Arrested Driver Identified
Clay County—The erratic driver arrested by the Indiana State Police on Tuesday, July 29, 2016 has been officially identified.
Arrested: Julie Miller, age 20, of Louisville, KY.
Charges: Resisting Law Enforcement, Auto Theft, Reckless Driving, and Refusal to Identify Self to Law Enforcement.
Miller was operating a 2002 Ford Taurus passing traffic utilizing the emergency shoulder on westbound Interstate 70 near the 16.5MM. Miller lost control of the vehicle, nearly striking two troopers, and crashed near a wood line. She then fled on foot, only to be captured minutes later by ISP troopers and Clay County Sheriff’s deputies. Upon arrest and over the next days, Miller failed to identify herself to law enforcement.
Her fingerprints were submitted to AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) where she was eventually identified. AFIS is a federally managed law enforcement system that stores prints of those arrested for criminal offenses.
The case has been investigated by ISP Master Trooper Troy Cobb.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
