Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports subjects in custody after sobriety checkpoint was conducted.

BENTON, MISSOURI - Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter reports subjects are in custody after the Sheriff’s Office and the Southeast Missouri DWI Task Force conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint Saturday night. Sheriff Walter stated the checkpoint was conducted north of Sikeston on US Highway 61.

Tiron Mitchell (42) of Sikeston has been charged with a Class C Felony for possession of a controlled substance and Class A Misdemeanor for possession of a controlled substance.

Mitchell was operating a vehicle and contact was made with him. The smell of burnt marijuana was detected and Mitchell stepped out of the vehicle. As Mitchell stepped out, a clear plastic baggy containing a white crystal substance fell to the ground. The baggy was seized and tested positive for methamphetamine. The Scott County K9 Unit was deployed around the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the vehicle. Inside the vehicle a plastic baggy with a green leafy substance was located and tested positive for marijuana. Mitchell also has two active Scott County warrants fail to appear - drugs and fail to appear – non support.

Ashlie Snow (30) of Sikeston has been charged with the Class C Felony of tampering with a motor vehicle and the Class C Felony of receiving stolen property.

Snow was approaching the checkpoint and made an illegal u-turn and attempted to leave the area. Deputies located her and conducted a vehicle stop. It was then determined that the vehicle Snow was operating had been reported stolen from Arkansas.

Dylan Hewitt (18) of Sikeston was arrested for possession of marijuana. Hewitt was a passenger in a vehicle that had the smell of burnt marijuana coming from it. The Scott County K9 Unit gave a positive alert to the vehicle. A green leafy substance was located and field tested positive for marijuana. Hewitt admitted to possessing the marijuana.

Kali Rice (21) of East Prairie was arrested for possession of marijuana. Rice was operating a motor vehicle and the smell of burnt marijuana was coming from the vehicle. The Scott County K9 Unit gave a positive alert to the vehicle. A marijuana cigarette was located and Rice admitted to possessing the marijuana.

Damathan Stevens (40) of Haywood City was operating a motor vehicle and arrested for driving while suspended.

Mitchell, Snow, Hewitt, Rice, and Stevens were transported to the Scott County Jail. Bond on Mitchell has set at $5,000 cash only to run concurrent with his other active warrants. Bond on Snow has been set at $5,000 cash or surety. Hewitt, Rice, and Steven were released on summons.
