Fleeing Driver Finally Arrested
Sullivan County—This morning at 10:20, Indiana State Police and Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 25-year-old Dakota Ray Montgomery at a residence at 113 South Thomas Street in Shelburn. Montgomery was found sleeping in the residence and taken into custody without incident. Officers were led to the residence on a citizen tip about Montgomery.
Dakota Montgomery had led police on a car and foot chase in northeastern Sullivan County on July 26, 2016. He had remained at large ever since.
Montgomery was incarcerated in the Sullivan County Jail on multiple criminal warrants from Vigo and Sullivan counties.
Making the arrest today were ISP Trooper Justin Bell and ISP Sergeants Kris Fitzgerald and Chuck Tharp, and Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Bobbitt.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
