Community: Northfield Township Crime Report for July 18 - 31

07/19/2016 600 Block of Turquoise – Larceny(Theft) from Vehicle- Victim reported that some unknown suspect entered her vehicle and removed cash from the center console. Victim was uncertain if the vehicle was locked when she parked it on 07/18/2016. No suspects, evidence or witnesses were determined at the time of the report.
0719/2016 Onyx Circle – Larceny(Theft) From Vehicle-Victim reported that between 3 am and 11 am an unknowns suspect had entered her vehicle and removed cash and a headset from her center console. In addition, the suspects had ransacked her entire car. Working with management and neighbors, the Northfield Twp Police are actively investigating the larceny incidents.
07/20/2016 Emerald Circle –Larceny of Bike- Northfield Twp Police received a report of a stolen 10 speed bike, the bike was eventually found, a suspect determined and a plan made for restitution of the damage that was done to it.
07/25/2016 Emerald Circle – Larceny(theft) from Auto-Victim reported that she parked her car at approximately 9:55 pm and within a ½ hour someone entered her vehicle and removed miscellaneous change from the vehicle. Suspect(s) then left the scene, leaving the car door open. No suspects or witnesses were determined at the time of the report.
07/25/2016 100 Block of Barker – Attempt Breaking & Entering Business- An employee contacted Northfield Twp Police to report that when she arrived to work on 07/25 she observed damage to the rear door of the business, which was not present when she closed up on 07/24. Investigation determined no entry was gained. No suspects or witnesses were determined at the time of the report.
07/26/2016 200 Block of Emerald Circle – Assault & Battery Northfield Twp Police investigated an assault and battery incident between known parties and forwarded their findings to the Washtenaw County Prosecutors Office.
07/27/2016 200 Block of Emerald Circle – Felonious Assault – Officers investigated a felonious
Firearm assault by known parties. Suspect was arrested and charged with 1 count of Felonious Assault.
07/28/2016 300 Block of 6 Mile - Retail Fraud (theft) –While on patrol a Northfield Twp Officer observed suspect hiding goods under his clothes and in his pants, while a 2nd suspect stood between the clerk and suspect 1. The officer arrested the suspects and property was returned to the manager.
07/28/2016 300 Block of 6 Mile – Violation of Controlled Substance Act – While investigating the Retail Fraud incident, the Northfield Twp Officer discovered suspected marijuana edibles, narcotics paraphernalia, suspected marijuana & other narcotics. Additional charges were added to the arrested, and the case was forwarded to the Washtenaw County Prosecutors Office.
07/28/2016 9000 Block of Brookside – Destruction of Property ––Resident observed his Personal Property left unattended in Commons Area being discarded in dumpster. An Officer investigated and identified the suspect involved; determined damage was done to property and submitted charges to the prosecutor’s office for review.
07/29/2016 7000 Block of Mason Lane -Fraud/Swindle - Family members reported that an elderly relative was absent from her home for an extended period of time. The family and investigating officer determined the victim received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Washtenaw County Circuit Court, this caller advised the victim that her grandson had been involved in an accident and needed $3000.00 for bail. Victim was directed to withdraw money and to purchase six $500.00 Itune cards. The victim was also told that a gag order by the court prevented her from speaking about this matter. Once the Itune cards were purchased, the victim provided the numbers to the caller. Investigation revealed that the call was made from outside the U.S.

Crime Tip: The Northfield Twp Police have found property that cannot be returned to their owners if a stolen report has not been made. Record all serial numbers as they are identifying numbers that can also assist officers in determining ownership.
