Michael J. Baumgart (47) has been charged with the Class C Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute and the Class D Felony of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sheriff Walter states that on Friday, August 5, 2016 deputies went to an address just outside of Scott City for a drug investigation. Baumgart, the owner of the residence, gave deputies permission to search the residence.

Located in the kitchen were glass mason jars containing a large amount of green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a grinder, smoking paraphernalia, and a mason jar containing plant food.

Deputies went to the master bedroom and located different packets of marijuana seeds individually labeled. Located in the closet were approximately 25 small green plants in trays and 2 large green plants in individual pots.

Located in another bedroom was a functional marijuana grow/irrigation system. The system consisted of large PVC piping for irrigation, a water basin, and a water pump. There were also 2 large florescent lights and a homemade ventilation system consisting of a filter and dyer hoses.

In a third bedroom deputies located a box labeled “grow stuff.” The box contained a large grinder, electric timers, rubber hoses, florescent lights, ventilation piping, water filters, and PVC piping.

The total weight of the marijuana, located in the jars, is 317 grams.

Baumgart was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail. Baumgart remains in custody at the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $5,000 cash only.
