Scott County is under a Flash Flood Watch in effect from 4 p.m. this afternoon through 10 a.m. Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen has issued a Flood Watch for Scott County in effect from 4pm this afternoon through 10amThursday morning.
Thunderstorms are expected to begin developing across the watch area this afternoon and continue through the overnight hours. An abnormally high water content in the atmosphere will lead to rainfall rates of 2 inches or more per hour. The thunderstorms may train across the area due to a nearly stationary front in place, leading to heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
Timing: From 4pm this afternoon through 10am Thursday morning.
Impact: High rainfall rates combined with the threat for training storms will lead to an increased flooding threat in the watch area.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding can be a dangerous, sometimes life-threatening situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should a flash flood warning be issued.
