Assault Suspect Flees Court Placing Community at Risk
San Pedro: Today, 19-year-old Abel Munguia, who was out on bail, appeared in court to answer to two separate felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. However, when he was advised of his charges, he fled the courthouse and now has a 1.25 million dollar warrant issued for his arrest.
Munguia was arrested on December 8, 2015 for assault with a deadly weapon after stabbing a 20-year-old female victim in the back. On August 3, 2016, Munguia was once again arrested, for mayhem in which he nearly gouged out the eye of a 50-year old male victim.
At the time of his escape, Munguia had an electronic monitoring bracelet which has been subsequently been cut from his ankle and found in the city of Carson.
Munguia is considered to be very dangerous and detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating him.
