IRS Phone Scam Alert
Recently, numerous area residents have been receiving scam phone calls in which the caller identifies themselves as government officials, particularly with the IRS. The callers will use high pressure tactics and threatening language to try and convince you that you owe the IRS money, and if you don't pay, you will face penalty or arrest.
PHPD reminds residents that these calls are scams. Callers will typically "spoof" their phone number to make residents believe they are local. Do not give the callers your personal information and do not agree to send money in any form (wire transfers, prepaid cards, etc.).
