Semi Hits Trooper Car On I-70
This morning at 9:25 a.m. Pendleton Trooper Scott Keegan was east bound in the left lane of I-70, at the Knightstown exit, passing a semi pulling a box trailer during a heavy rainstorm. As he drove beside the semi, the truck swerved over into the passing lane striking Trooper Keegan's fully marked commission forcing it into a bridge deck wall.
Keegan, age 35 and a 12 year veteran of the Indiana State Police, was checked at the scene for complaint of back pain. The semi, a 2007 Peterbilt driven by Ronald Weber, age 47 of Danbury, IL., continued east one mile before stopping. Preliminary investigation is that Weber was changing lanes for merging traffic from the Knightstown exit when he struck Keegan's car.
Master Trooper Mike Ooley investigated the crash and cited Weber for unsafe lane movement. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Sergeant Todd Wallace inspected the truck and cited Weber for a log book violation. Trooper Scott McPheeters also assisted with the investigation.
