Modesto, CA – A late night shooting left a Modesto man dead and detectives looking for witnesses.
At about 10:45 last night, officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls of a shooting in the 1600 block of Nian Way in south Modesto. Once on scene, emergency personnel found 28-year-old Robert Farish who had been shot. He was rushed to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The early investigation indicates that a gray or black newer model sedan, similar to a Mustang, was driving down Nian Way when the passenger fired one round at Farish, striking him in the left side. The dark colored vehicle sped away prior to police arrival.
Detectives believe the shooting was not a random act and they are actively investigating the details leading up to the incident. We encourage anyone with information about this shooting to contact Detective Ruskamp at (209) 572-9631 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters may also text information to Crime Stoppers at 274637. Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
