On August 4, 2016, the Noblesville Police Department held a ceremony to officially swear in two (2) of their newest police officers. The ceremony took place in the council chambers located at City Hall. In attendance for the event were Mayor John Ditslear, families, friends, members of the community, government officials and officers of the police department. Chief Kevin Jowitt officiated the ceremony.

The new officers are Christopher Burton and David Barnes. They were both hired on June 20, 2016 and have been receiving orientation training since that time. Both officers are graduates of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and were employed as police officers with other law enforcement agencies prior to being hired by Noblesville. Officer Burton served with the Rochester (Indiana) Police Department and Officer Barnes served with the Muncie and Ball State University (Indiana) Police Departments.

The officers are currently assigned to the Field Training & Evaluation Program where they will spend a minimum of sixteen (16) weeks. During this period, the officers will be assigned to several different field training officers who will provide daily training and performance evaluations. At the completion of the program, the officers will then be certified to work in a solo-capacity and will be assigned to the patrol division for the balance of their probationary year.

In addition to the swearing in ceremony, Chief Jowitt also took the opportunity to publically recognize a number of officers who have recently been promoted within the police department.

Those promotions included:

Andrew Reiss to the rank of lieutenant from sergeant,
Corey Everhart to the rank of sergeant from patrolman,
Brad Purvis to the rank of sergeant from patrolman,
Jamie Aloisio to the rank of sergeant from patrolman,
Eric Cunningham to the rank of lieutenant from sergeant, and
Jon Williams to the rank of captain from lieutenant.
