CAMILLUS, NEW YORK, August 19, 2016 – The Camillus Police Department is investigating a serious motor vehicle that occurred in the parking lot of Dunn Tire located at 3690 Milton Ave in the Town of Camillus.
The accident occurred at 8:40am involving a delivery box truck and pedestrian. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2015 Freight-Van delivery truck operated by Charles L. Byrd of Syracuse, New York was backing up in the parking lot after making a delivery at Dunn Tire when a female identified as Lori A. Hotaling of Camillus walked across the parking lot and did not see the truck as it was backing. The freight truck struck Ms. Hotaling knocking her to the ground and pinned her under the rear wheels.
Members of the Fairmount Fire Department, WAVES Ambulance, and Camillus Police Officers responded within minutes through their quick and decisive action the delivery van was lifted off Ms. Hotaling removing the victim from under the tires. Ms. Hotaling was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse in critical condition as a result of the injuries sustained in this collision.
Camillus Police Accident Investigators, Detectives and New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Unit are investigating this accident.
