Chula Vista Library Screens Debut Film "It's About Alex" This Sunday
The Chula Vista Library's Civic Center Branch, 365 F St, will host a screening of the debut film, "It's About Alex," by filmmaker Candice Silva Cortez, a Chula Vista resident. The film is a touching, comically delicious romp through society’s minefields of religions, customs and political correctness. First-time director Cortez takes us along on Alex’s complicated journey of self discovery. Starring Cortez’ son Marcus as Alex Patterson, a young San Diegan who discovers who his real family is, while searching for love in the world of online dating. Alex' appearance also makes him a target of racial prejudice.
The original screenplay and music are by Candice Cortez, an actor who appeared in the movie "Zoot Suit," and also a vocalist and voiceover artist. Cortez received a Performing and Visual Arts Grant from the City of Chula Vista for her project.
The film screening is free of charge. For more information, call the library at (619) 691-5069.
