PORTER COUNTY I-94 WEST BOUND SCALE DEDICATION CEREMONY - Ralph R. Reed Jr.
Porter County– Saturday, August 27th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m., a dedication ceremony will be held at the Porter County I-94 west bound scales at the 29 mile marker. The purpose of the ceremony will be to dedicate the facility to the memory of Master Motor Carrier Inspector (MCI) Ralph R. Reed Jr.
Ralph Reed was an Indiana State Police Motor Carrier Inspector from 1968 until his tragic and untimely death, on US 30 near Plymouth on August 3, 1995 when he was killed by a semi tractor-trailer hauling cattle. Inspector Reed was the first Indiana State Police motor carrier inspector to be killed in the line of duty.
Members of the Indiana State Police Command Staff and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division Staff, as well as members from Ralph Reed’s family, are expected to attend the dedication ceremony.
Media and the public are invited to attend and should arrive 15 minutes early and park in front of the large inspection barn on the far north end.
