Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in the city of Cerritos arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of sexual battery.
Ivan Arturo Lopez, a resident of Lakewood, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after deputies received a call from a woman who reported she was groped by a male on a bicycle. The incident occurred on 183rd Street near Town Center Drive, Cerritos, while the woman was walking on the sidewalk. Cerritos deputy personnel quickly located the suspect riding a bicycle near Bloomfield Avenue and Civic Center Drive.
A similar incident occurred on August 18, 2016, when a woman reported she was groped by a male riding a bicycle while she was walking near Artesia Boulevard and Carmenita Road.
Cerritos Station detectives are investigating to determine whether the two incidents are connected.
Ivan Arturo Lopez was booked at Lakewood Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of Sexual Battery, and was held in lieu of $25,000 bail, however he was released on bond.

Cerritos Sheriff’s Station detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a sexual assault suspect. This incident occurred on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at approximately 11:35 a.m., in the area of Carmenita Road and Artesia Boulevard, Cerritos.
The victim told deputies that a male adult suspect approached her from behind while he rode a bicycle and grabbed her buttocks. The suspect continued riding his bicycle southbound and out of view.
The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 20-25 years-old, 5’05’’– 6’00’’, 140–170 pounds, with medium length curly or wavy brown hair, and riding a black 10-speed type mountain bike.
The victim is a female Hispanic 41 years-old, and a resident of Cerritos.
This is the second reported incident in a one week period.
