Over the next month, General Services will begin several projects to upgrade the security of staff and visitors to the County Administrative Center. Those upgrades will include the replacement of all access card readers in the building, installation of metal detectors at the South entrance of the building, and installation of a door between the cafe entrance and the ATM machine on the first floor.
Access Card Reader Replacement
Beginning Monday, August 29, 2016, staff of Tel Tec Security Systems will be on-site beginning a project to replace access card readers throughout the building. The project is expected to be completed in early October 2016. The project will require short, intermittent outages of some access card readers during the replacement process but Security will be advised ahead of time to ensure building security. Departments will receive advanced notification regarding the anticipated start date in your respective departments. Every effort will be made to minimize disruption to your staff and your customers.
First Floor South Entrance
Installation of the metal detectors at the first floor south entrance will begin in late September. Staff of AGI is already on-site adding electrical wiring to several areas of the building to accommodate the upcoming installation. During installation, access through this entrance may be limited; however the remaining entrances will be available. Once completed, EVERYONE (including employees) seeking entrance through the 1st floor south entrance will be required to enter through the metal detectors and undergo the screening process.
North Entrance
A door, equipped with an access card reader, will be installed between the cafe entrance and the ATM machine on the first floor. This will allow employees access to and from the cafe, while preventing the public from entering the building without going through the security screening process.
East Entrance
The east entrance will be locked and only used as an emergency exit. The exterior card reader will still work for staff to use as an entrance. Please do not allow visitors to follow you in and bypass the screening process.
2nd Floor Entrance from Parking Structure
The 2nd floor south entrance will be locked, requiring an access card to enter the building at all times. It will remain an entrance and exit for staff. Please do not allow visitors to follow you in and bypass the screening process.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to contact Leslie Wallace at ext. 83070 or via email at WallaceL.
