Advisory

Saturday AM Little Cranberry Lake Fire Update

Last night a "rough fire line" was put in place that has encircled the fire area. Firefighters will be reinforcing that line over the next couple of days. Residents may see smoke and columns of hot spot today as the temperature warm up. Helicopters may be used today to attack any noted hot spots that are remaining.

The Anacortes Fire Department is very appreciative of the support and donations provided by the community of food and water. We have put to good use those supplies, and still have a healthy supply remaining. If you desire to make a donation of non-perishable foods, we encourage those go to the local food banks.

This event has proven to be a good lesson for all. Attached is a link to a flyer for residents to take action to improve their "Defensible Space" around their home, increasing their safety of their home and belongings from wildfire. Anacortes Firefighters will be patrolling the neighborhoods to hand out flyers and talk to residents on what they can do.
