Current Situation: Fire crews made good progress yesterday on containment lines on the north and northeast portions of the fire. These efforts increased the overall containment to 68 percent. Last night the fire showed minimal activity and no growth.

Today crews will focus on securing and mopping-up the remaining uncontained fireline on the northeast corner of the fire, using air support as needed. Mop-up and patrol will continue on the other portions of the fire perimeter.

Fire suppression repair continues across Camino Cielo Ridge and other portions of the fire area as crews repair dozer lines, chip brush, create waterbars and remove berms along firelines and contingency lines.

Fire Weather: There is a Fire Weather Watch in effect that may be upgraded to a Red Flag Warning depending on wind activity. High pressure will remain in the area through Tuesday with continued hot and dry weather. Temperatures will be in the high 90s and winds out of the west 3-6 mph, gusts up to 14 mph with northwest ridge winds up to 14-19 mph.

Road Closures: The Painted Cave and Gibraltar Roads are closed to all non-residential traffic. East Camino Cielo Road remains closed to the public, campers and anyone not affiliated with fire operations. Paradise Road is open to traffic.

Forest Closure: The Forest Closure Order No. 05-07-54-16-14 for the fire area can be found on the Los Padres National Forest website. It includes portions of the San Rafael and Dick Smith Wildernesses.

Fire Restrictions: The Los Padres National Forest is in Level Four fire restrictions. No wood or charcoal campfires, use of gas stoves only in designated campgrounds, and no target shooting, smoking or fireworks.

- RED FLAG WARNING -
SANTA BARBARA, Ca. August 29, 2016 – The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the Santa Barbara County Mountains and south coast (zones CAZ252) in effect from 5pm Monday August 29 to 10 am Wednesday August 31, 2016.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
create extreme fire behavior.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 AM PDT WEDNESDAY FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE SANTA BARBARA COUNTY MOUNTAINS...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOS ANGELES/OXNARD HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 AM PDT WEDNESDAY. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* WINDS...NORTH TO NORTHEAST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...8 TO 15 PERCENT.

* IMPACTS...IF FIRE IGNITION OCCURS OR FOR EXISTING FIRES...CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR EXTREME FIRE BEHAVIOR AND RAPID SPREAD OF WILDFIRE WHICH WOULD THREATEN LIFE AND PROPERTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
