The City of Albany will hold an open house to review Albany’s stormwater system and proposed utility funding option on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the Albany Senior Center, 489 Water Avenue NW. The open house will be an informal, come-and-go format with staff available to explain the proposal and respond to questions anytime between 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. A short presentation will be made at 5:30 p.m. Stormwater management and how to fund it has been the subject of several Albany City Council work sessions since January, 2015. The purpose of these discussions has been to learn more about stormwater operation and maintenance needs, new stormwater regulatory requirements, and potential funding options for meeting those needs and requirements. Like Albany’s water and sewer programs that are supported by dedicated utility fees for services, the City Council is considering a new stormwater utility fee.
