Trooper Ray Benn III. Promoted to Sergeant
Indianapolis, IN- Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter has announced the promotion of Trooper Raymond Benn III to the rank of Sergeant to serve as the statewide National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) Coordinator.
Trooper Benn III is an Indianapolis native and a 1999 graduate of North Central High School. He was selected to attend the 71st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 2012 and upon graduation he was assigned to the Indianapolis District. Since 2012 Benn has patrolled Marion County on both the afternoon and midnight shift. He is an active member of the ISP Tactical Intervention Platoon, and a defensive tactics instructor. Benn is currently enrolled at IVY Tech studying Cyber Security and Information Assurance.
In his new position Benn will assist in the development and operation of the statewide Data Analytics initiatives, the National Incident Based Reporting System initiative and the Vehicle Fatality Reduction initiative. He will evaluate designated data analytics hardware and software, and coordinate statewide NIBRS submission with the FBI.
Trooper Benn III is the son of late Indiana State Police Major Raymond Benn Jr. who passed away in 2006.
