UPDATE ON TROPICAL STORM HERMINE.
<p>TROPICAL STORM HERMINE </p>
<p><strong>MAYOR AMATO, CHIEF DIMICHELE and </strong>THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WOULD LIKE TO UPDATE RESIDENTS OwN TROPICAL STORM HERMINE. </p>
<p>-Current forecast in reference to expected hurricane activity off the coast of New Jersey will result in sustained winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour, With gusts up to 50 miles per hour.</p>
<p>-Please take this time to secure any loose items that may be outside, to include patio sets garbage cans etc.</p>
<p>-Also Saturday evening going into Sunday and Monday due to above normal tides and Northeast winds minor flooding may be possible along the coast. Please take all necessary precautions. </p>
<p><strong>POWER OUTAGES</strong></p>
<p> In the event outages occur, customers without power are encouraged to call <a href="tel:1-888-LIGHTSS">1-888-LIGHTSS</a> (<a href="tel:1-888-544-4877">1-888-544-4877</a>) to report their outage, or click the “Report Outage” link on www.firstenergycorp.com. In the event of severe weather, customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility, or call Berkeley Police: <a href="tel:732-341-6600">732-341-6600</a> </p>
<p>Residents should stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris. Motorists are cautioned to treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.</p>
<p>Berkeley Township Parks and Beaches are ready to deal with any downed trees on roadways. </p>
<p>They were out this morning inspecting our dunes which are in good shape. All equipment is ready and in place. </p>
<p>Department of Streets and Roads are out today cleaning around storm drains and making sure they clear. </p>
