Speeding Leads to Marijuana Arrest
Speeding Leads to Marijuana Arrest
Vermillion County—This afternoon at 12:50, Indiana State Police Trooper Chuck Murphy radar clocked a gray Mitsubishi passenger car at 70 miles-per-hour in a 60mph zone, northbound on State Road 63 near County Road 800 South.
During conversation with the driver, Trooper Murphy noticed what appeared to be the smell of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Moments later, Indiana State Police Trooper Michael Organ and K-9 “Zeke” arrived to assist. A “positive” indication on the vehicle was given by “Zeke” and a subsequent search yielded approximately four grams of suspected marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia in the center console of the vehicle.
The driver and only occupant was taken into custody and transported to the Vermillion County Jail for incarceration. Andrew Christopher Gross, age 18, of Crown Point, IN. was preliminarily charged with one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
Ironically, Andrew Gross was reportedly on his way from Terre Haute to the Vermillion County Jail to pick up a friend who was released today after being incarcerated since last week for possession of marijuana.
The case was investigated by ISP Trooper Chuck Murphy. Assisting was Trooper Michael Organ and “Zeke”.
