Suspect arrested after overnight thievery spree in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Steven Pack, a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, was taken into custody in the early morning hours of September 8, 2016, after a five hour standoff with deputies from Lomita Station. Pack was suspected of a night time crime spree in the early morning hours of September 6-7, in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes. He was suspected of committing a residential burglary on Top Rail Lane and numerous thefts from unlocked vehicles on Rocking Horse Road and Stirrup Road. Detectives from Lomita Station followed numerous investigative leads that lead them to Pack’s residence, who has an extensive history of prior thefts. Once deputies arrived at Pack’s home, he barricaded himself inside of his garage and refused to come out. Detectives believed Pack was holding the stolen property he allegedly stole the night before. Crisis Negotiators were called in, but Pack still refused to cooperate. Armed with a search warrant, detectives executed a tactical entry using tear gas and Pack surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without incident.
A search of the garage followed and detectives recovered a plethora of stolen property belonging to the victims of the above crimes. Detectives have six reported crime reports and are expecting more. Lomita Station detectives are asking the public’s help to identify any other victims who live in these area to come forward.
Steven Pack will be arraigned in Torrance Court on Monday, September 12, 2016, on suspicion of 1st degree residential burglary and grand theft.
