Chula Vista Library Announces Major Programs

<div>Mark your calendars for several special library events in September and October! The Chula Vista Public Library announces the 10th Anniversary of KPBS&#39;<strong> One Book, One San Diego</strong> with the 2016 book selection, &quot;Waiting for Snow in Havana,&quot; by National Book Award-winning author, Carlos Eire. The program encourages the entire community to participate by reading the book. Past &quot;One Book&quot; authors will also participate in a variety of programs throughout the county. The Chula Vista Library will host last year&#39;s featured author, Lysley Tenorio, speaking about his book &quot;Monstress&quot; on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 pm in the Civic Center Branch, 365 F Street. Check out the books in our library branches.<br />

<p><strong>KinderReadyGo! Kindergarten Boot Camps</strong> for children transitioning to kindergarten will be held on the following dates:<br />
Civic Center Branch, 365 F St, Mon-Fri, Sept 19-30, 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Register now with a staff member or by calling (619) 691-5069<br />
South Chula Vista Library, 389 Orange Av, Mon-Fri, Sept 26-30, 10:30 a.m. to Noon. Register your child at (619) 585-5755 or online.<br />
This free program supports school readiness for children ages 4-5, with a focus on motor skills. KBC is a partnership between the library and Altrusa, International of San Diego.<br />

Save the date for the upcoming community open house for our new<strong> Innovation Station</strong>, our state-of-the-art community and school shared space, Friday, Oct 7, from 2-5 p.m. Children, older teens and adults are introduced to technology and engineering in a fun, creative setting.The library has partnered with Qualcomm and the Chula Vista Elementary School District.&nbsp;The lab was funded by the City of Chula Vista, Friends of the Chula Vista Library, in-kind support from Qualcomm, and a federal Library Services and Technology Act grant administered by the California State Library.</p>
